On November 11th, 2018, the third edition of Soundie, the first International Music Video Awards in Barcelona, was held at L’Antiga Fábrica Estrella Damm.
One more year, Soundie organized an event devoted to music, business, creativity, networking and discussion. All this around the music video format. 14 awards valued in 12.500€ were given and more than 1.000 assistants, welcomed.
Soundie’2018 was supported by several entities and partners linked to the Creativity Industry. These were WIN (Worldwide Independent Network), Fundación SGAE (SGAE Foundation), UFI (Unión fonográfica Independiente), ARC (Associació de Representants, Promotors i Mànagers de Catalunya), APECAT (Associació de Productors Catalans), PAF (Productors Associats Fonografics), MIM (Mujeres de la Industria Musical) Cases de la Música, MEI; and Spanish media like Mondosonoro, Enderrock y Scanner FM. It was also possible thanks to SAE Institute Videolab, artists, professionals and firms linked to the sector.
Music videos have become an indispensable tool for any artist. They represent a very important part of the music industry. Thanks to the appearance of digital video viewing channels and smartphones, this format is gaining an increasing consumer influence.
Soundie Music Video Awards was born in 2016 as an international event dedicated to music videos in Spain—there were no similar initiatives until that moment. The aim was (and still is) competing with renown festivals that are held in countries like Germany, the UK or the US. In 2018 it became a scenario of new audiovisual projects, emerging artists and collaborative works.
